Kenya Seaman eTA Your Guide for Maritime Crew Travel

If you are a seafarer or maritime crew member traveling to Kenya to join or leave a vessel, you will need this specific travel authorization before you arrive. The application requires a clear passport scan, a recent photo, confirmed accommodation, your travel bookings, and a crew ID or seaman's book. You may also need your host's identity card if required. The single entry eTA allows a 90 day stay within a 90 day validity period. I found the Kenya Seaman eTA page really helpful for understanding the document checklist and processing times. Standard processing takes 3 to 5 days, but you can choose rush or super rush if your travel dates are tight. Just remember that this eTA does not serve as a work permit, and you will need separate authorization for any employment. Extensions are not guaranteed, so plan your stay accordingly. Only US citizens can apply for the upcoming 5 year multiple entry option. Double check your passport validity before you submit your application.
