Finally moving away from wooden crates to plastic for our shipping

Our company has been using wooden crates for export shipping for decades and honestly I don't know why we didn't switch earlier. The wood splinters, absorbs moisture, attracts termites, and adds unnecessary weight to our shipments. Not to mention the customs headaches we sometimes face because of ISPM-15 treatment requirements. I've been researching alternatives and it seems like plastic is the way to go, especially with the durability and reusability factor. I found a Leading Plastic Crates supplier in UAE that offers custom sizes and they claim their crates are UV-stabilized and designed for the harsh shipping environment. We ship a lot of heavy machinery parts to Africa and the Middle East, so I need something that can handle rough handling at ports and survive multiple trips. My main concern is whether these plastic crates can really withstand the same abuse as wooden ones without cracking, especially in high heat. Has anyone here made the switch from wood to plastic for export shipping? How many trips do you typically get out of them before they need replacing? And do you find the upfront cost worth it in the long run? I'm trying to build a business case to convince management to approve the change, so any real-world experience would be super helpful.
